Speaker Bio

Mrs. Aminata Dumbuya-Jarr is a Waste Transformer and a Change Agent passionate about accelerating energy access through the use of decentralized renewable energy to achieve universal energy access goals.

 

She is the CEO and Founder of The Freetown Waste Transformers SL LTD (FWT). Together with Partners, FWT has successfully implemented a waste-to-energy pilot that will be scaled across Freetown to deliver measurable and tangible impact across the sanitation and energy sectors by end of 1st quarter of 2023. FWT’s Project, “Turning Waste into Opportunity for socially inclusive Growth” is on the verge of #transformfreetown’s waste management infrastructure while contributing to increasing energy access rates in a green clean, and sustainable manner, as well as, creating opportunities to enhance urban farming through its liquid fertilizer and compost derivative of its waste conversion process.

 


Mrs. Dumbuya-Jarr is a seasoned energy and sanitation professional that has held various leadership roles across numerous sectors. She was recently the Country Manager for The Africa Clean Energy Technical Assistance Facility program funded by FCDO and implemented by TetraTech International Development, which aimed at catalyzing the market for high-quality solar technologies to reach the most vulnerable and marginalized groups in Sierra Leone. She was also Campaign Director for Power for All in Sierra Leone and championed Market Activation activities that resulted in increased access rates through the use of off-grid solutions in rural communities.

 

Mrs. Dumbuya-Jarr has 15 plus years of combined experience in the energy, sanitation, and private sectors in Sierra Leone and has implemented successful and impactful interventions which are catalytic in driving the nation’s development agenda.
