Banco Sabadell Stage, Hall 2

Session Description

There is now more opportunity than ever to accelerate digital innovation in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), where the expansion of mobile networks combined with a wave of growth in entrepreneurs and new business models can drive economies and well-being. The journey from innovation to scale is crucial to success and impact - from ideation to widespread adoption. This session looks at the journey of innovators, honing in on their partnerships with mobile operators and investors, and the ingredients that make it possible to harness their complementary strengths.

We’ll start at the beginning of the journey by showcasing best practices to catalyse and nurture early-stage innovation, featuring examples the GSMA Innovation Fund and investors. As we explore the scaling phase, we’ll aim to pinpoint the key ingredients, particularly around mobile operator partnerships that have led to major industries taking off, such as HealthTech, AgriTech and Off-Grid energy. In the final segment we’ll discuss the role of industry platforms to support innovation, including operating systems and labs.
