Smart Africa?is committed to accelerating sustainable socioeconomic development on the continent through the development and harmonization of a political, legal, and regulatory frameworks for the digital ?eld, in its member states.?To this end, the?Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA)?was set up as a catalyst for building fair, inclusive and sustainable digital societies in Africa.


The Smart Africa Digital Academy – SADA for short – provides the courses, webinars, and opportunities for exchange to policymakers and regulators to promote the digital transformation in Africa. With its various learning programmes and formats SADA wants to improve participants’ skills for drafting inclusive, gender-sensitive, and climate-smart ICT regulations. SADA also reaches a wider audience from entrepreneurs to engaged citizens with the aim of improving their digital literacy, so that they can fully benefit from the new potentials offered by digital technologies. 

SADA’s goal is to curb the critical digital skills gap required to enable each citizen to thrive in the digital economy. This is achieved through four essential components namely – Capacity building for Decision-makers, - programs for digital inclusion, - Skills marketplace for professionals, Talent Bridge for businesses.


The USTTI is a non-profit government-industry joint venture designed to meet the ICT training needs of the women and men who design, regulate, and oversee the communications infrastructures of the developing world. USTTI training empowers developing country officials with the skills needed to manage their spectrum, deploy wireless technologies, develop national broadband plans, implement national Cybersecurity strategies, support Internet deployment, launch cloud services, protect children online, and ensure sound emergency communications. 

The USTTI has graduated over 10,000 officials from 177 developing countries. The model for USTTI’s continued and effective program is simple: each year hundreds of ICT experts from industry and government provide intensive tuition-free training to women and men who are involved, typically at senior levels, in their countries ICT sector.
