Session Description
In low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), women are now 16% less likely than men to use mobile internet and 28% less likely than men to use mobile money. Worryingly, progress in reducing the mobile internet gender gap has stalled. As mobile is the primary means for accessing the internet in LMICs, urgent action is needed to realise the significant socio-economic benefits of bridging the mobile gender gap.
Join us for a fireside chat between Claire Sibthorpe, Head of the GSMA’s Connected Women team and Jamie Zimmerman, Deputy Director of Digital Connectivity at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, who will discuss the key issues and opportunities for ensuring that women are not being left behind in an increasingly connected world. When women thrive, societies, businesses and economies thrive.
