Session Description

Open to ALL

Mobile networks and connectivity provide a lifeline for humanitarian emergencies, including natural hazard disasters, conflict, food insecurity, and forced displacement. The past year has seen record flooding in Pakistan, the threat of famine in the Horn of Africa, and the war against Ukraine that has contributed to the increasing number of refugees globally. The mobile industry coordinates and partners with the humanitarian sector to respond to this growing humanitarian challenge, often guided by GSMA’s Humanitarian Connectivity Charter. This session will explore these partnerships, the role of connectivity in anticipating and responding to humanitarian crises, and user preferences in affected communities.
