Session Description

Already today, 4G LTE networks allow vehicles to communicate with each other, smart roadside infrastructure and vulnerable road users such as pedestrians or cyclists, creating safer, greener and more efficient driving experiences. With 5G, vehicle communication technology will be accelerated fundamentally and the market for connected driving can scale to its full potential, delivering societal benefits, value-added services and business opportunities at large.

Because 5G delivers significant improvements to bandwidth, latency, reliability and safety, it is vital to the enablement of fully autonomous driving. The advancements of 5G will deliver scale to existing connected driving scenarios, but also facilitate new advanced safety-critical use cases that will drive the development and deployment of autonomous vehicles and create safer roads not just for drivers, but all traffic participants.

This workshop will explore the progress and opportunity created by 5G for connected and cooperative driving, and autonomous vehicles in particular.
